Steel combi tanks for machinery, equipment and vehicle technology

Steel combi tanks usually have two chambers. The separated areas serve to separate different fuels or liquids. For example, combi tanks are used for the withdrawal and parallel storage of diesel and hydraulic oil in machines, systems and vehicle technology (vehicles). This combination in one tank unit is predestined for tight spaces.

Combi tanks made of steel must meet legal requirements and numerous other requirements. In daily use, steel combi tanks are continuously subjected to mechanical loads, vibrations and temperature differences. Complex designs for maximum filling volume increase the strength requirements.

We only produce individual solutions for orders of at least 50 pieces

Individual steel combi tanks from NovaNox®.

We have many years of experience in tank technology. On this basis, we design and produce individual steel combi tanks for manufacturers of machines, plants and vehicle technology. Thanks to our modern manufacturing capabilities, we are able to implement combination tanks with simple and difficult geometries for any installation situation.

NovaNox® steel combi tanks are always designed individually according to the available installation possibilities. In this way, even installation spaces with little space are used effectively and the maximum is achieved for the filling volume of the combination tank.

Lightweight steel combi tanks from NovaNox®.

In contrast to normal steel combi tanks, lightweight NovaNox® combi tanks are made of high-quality thin sheet steel. This feature brings significant weight savings, especially for automotive and aerospace applications. These weight reductions bring savings in fuel consumption and the resulting operating costs.

Although made of thin sheet in lightweight construction, our steel combi tanks have high strength. This quality feature is due to our own welding process planning.

Manufacturing process

Manual welding
You benefit from our many years of know-how in welding technology. As a specialist welding company, we naturally employ expert personnel. In addition to the automated welding process, we also manufacture hand-welded steel combination tanks. The manual welding process is a cost-effective alternative with fast turnaround times, especially for custom-made products and small and medium-sized series. The hand-welded steel combination tanks are manufactured on modern welding tables. Dimensional accuracy and lasting precision, even with high tolerances, can be relied on thanks to our own fixture construction.

Automated welding
We use state-of-the-art welding robots for the automated welding process. The automated manufacturing process allows efficient production within the shortest possible time. This is ideal for high requirements that need to be manufactured cost-effectively with consistent quality. The automated welding process is the outstanding method of welding for extremely high precision. It can be used to build even very complex steel combi tanks with high tolerance requirements.

Corrosion protection and finishes for steel combi tanks

Surface treatments ensure durability, safety and an attractive appearance. With a permanently corrosion-free, safe and solid surface, the service life of the steel combi tanks can be extended. At the same time, the steel combi tanks are visually enhanced. Our own powder coating and painting facility can provide surface treatments in all RAL colors quickly and to a high standard. Heat-resistant paints, powder coatings as well as pickling and passivation are suitable for optimum corrosion protection.

Services

Right at the start of our project, we use FEM calculations to determine the structural strength, fatigue strength and material efficiency of your concept, among other things. This saves you from unpleasant surprises during the test phases and also after your customers have put your product into operation. To this end, we digitally illustrate the effects of different mechanical, thermal and electrical loads using linear and non-linear structural-mechanical calculations. This has the advantage that we can identify the consequences of the different influences on the entire product or component for any geometry, even complex ones, before we build prototypes.

The results of these considerations are additionally useful as evidence for technical approvals, for product liability and production releases.

NovaNox® FEM calculations are performed analytically on the basis of general and international standards. This ensures comparability and reliable results. In detail we do for you

  • linear and non-linear structural mechanics calculations
  • Analysis of deformations, stiffnesses and stability
  • Consideration of natural vibrations
  • Transient structural analysis
  • Collision analyses
  • Temperature field calculation (thermal-stationary or thermal-transient)
  • CAE-supported fatigue analysis with nCode

We produce technical drawings for you in 2D (in dxf, dwg and pdf formats) and in 3D (in step format). Depending on your needs, we will provide you with individual part drawings, assembly drawings, general drawings or assembly drawings. In addition, you will receive detailed technical documentation for review. This gives you the opportunity to make any adjustments or add any special ideas before the start of production. This way, you can be sure that everything fits absolutely and is implemented without any defects.

With this range of technical drawings and comprehensive documentation, you ensure precise communication throughout your entire development and production process chain. In this way, you meet the different information needs of each stage and thus ensure greater efficiency.

In order to get as close as possible to the final result ready for series production already during the prototype phase, we work closely with you from the very beginning. We develop, plan and select the design, material and manufacturing process together with you. Experience shows that this produces the best results and we keep to your time and cost planning.

As icing on the cake, we evaluate the results of the FAI and readjust the manufacturing process for highest possible efficiency and profitability. This includes significantly shortening the time-to-market and successfully launching series production on schedule. In this way, we take your project budget into account and give you added security.

We take care of the complete process for you - starting with demand planning and ending with logistical handling. To ensure uninterrupted production processes, we provide you with a total of 1,200 square meters of storage space as a consignment warehouse. This reduces your costs. Because you save on storage costs compared to your own storage capacities and can produce more cost-effectively in larger batch sizes. In this way, you secure your smooth component supply for series production.

Your steel combi tanks are delivered to you on time and flexibly on demand from the consignment warehouse. We fully integrate your existing logistics processes. This is the optimal solution for a secure component supply with steel combi tanks from NovaNox® throughout the year.

Quality management

Based on the welding process planning, the ideal welding process is selected for the specific requirements of your steel combi tanks. Using the most suitable welding process increases the safety and strength of your steel combi tanks.

Welding process planning also identifies and determines the welding sequence. The best sequence of welding operations ensures efficient production processes and a longer service life and reliable tightness of your steel combi tanks.

Thanks to the type identification, each steel combi tank can be conveniently traced back to its origin. All movements from production to the last use can be individually traced over the entire product life. This proof gives you even more security and clarity.

Depending on the material and the planned load of your steel combination tanks, various types of type markings can be considered:

  • Laser engraving
  • Welded metal plates with laser engraving
  • Self-adhesive metal signs with laser engraving
  • Self-adhesive plastic labels with specific imprint and silicone coating for external protection

You get your personal identification using symbols, numbers or letters for constant traceability of your steel combi tanks. The integrated marking enables clear route and process reconstruction.

This quality management procedure gives you the assurance that your steel combi tanks will remain absolutely leak-proof even in long-term use and under exceptional conditions. As an additional safeguard, we provide you with the leak test as a written declaration of conformity with every delivery. This NovaNox® test certificate can be added to your overall documentation in no time at all. We carry out these leak tests for you:

  • Our in-house test basin is employed for a 100% test with air underwater, in accordance with regulations like ECE R34 or 70/21/EEC
  • Pressure test
  • Leak test by means of red or fluorescent dyes
  • Ultrasonic testing

Precise documentation of the production processes is required for quality assurance in production. This is because it ensures the high quality of your products.  Complete documentation also means considerable cost-cutting potential for you, because errors and quality deviations can be detected and eliminated in good time. These advantages are particularly noticeable in large projects.

Precisely documented, traceable processes make additional time reserves and personnel resources available. We offer you this comprehensive documentation for quality management:

  • Initial sample inspection report according to VDA 2, EN 9102
  • Factory certificates 3.1 and 2.2 according to EN 10204
  • Dimensional report by 3D measuring technique (Faro measuring arm)
  • Declaration of conformity for pressure tests

All our documents can be easily and quickly added to your overall documentation.
