AdBlue tanks for machines, plants and vehicle technology

AdBlue tanks are used for the storage and removal of AdBlue in machines, plants and vehicle technology. AdBlue is a mixture of urea and distilled water. The mixture is injected into the exhaust gas stream and is intended to help reduce nitrogen emissions.

In addition to the legal guidelines, Ad Blue tanks have to meet a wide range of requirements. In daily use, Ad Blue tanks are constantly subjected to mechanical loads, vibrations and temperature fluctuations. The strength requirements are also further increased by complex geometries for maximum filling volume.

We only produce individual solutions for orders of at least 50 pieces

Individual AdBlue tanks

With our many years of experience as a system supplier and component supplier in tank technology, we develop and produce individual AdBlue tanks for manufacturers of machines, systems and vehicle technology. From simple to complex geometries, we realize AdBlue tanks for every installation situation with our modern manufacturing capabilities. NovaNox® AdBlue tanks single-walled or double-walled are made of stainless steel (stainless steel AdBlue tanks).

NovaNox® AdBlue tanks are thus always individually matched to the installation options. In this way, even particularly tight installation spaces are used effectively. At the same time, the filling volume of the AdBlue tank is utilized to the maximum.

What is AdBlue?

AdBlue is an additional fuel used in trucks with SCR technology and diesel engines. It consists of urea and demineralized water. Urea is a synthetic nitrogen compound. The exhaust gases are first passed through the oxidation catalyst. They then "flow" through the diesel particulate filter. The AdBlue is then added so that a thermal reaction begins. This reaction decomposes the AdBlue and converts it into ammonia. The final reaction then takes place in the SCR catalytic converter. Here, the ammonia reacts with the nitrogen oxides, converting the two substances into nitrogen and water. Usually, the AdBlue tank or the fuel filler flap for refilling is located next to the filler neck for gasoline or diesel. 3-5% of the AdBlue solution is required from the diesel consumption in liters. In addition to the significantly reduced pollution for the environment, another advantage of AdBlue is that fuel consumption, in diesel engines with SCR technology, is reduced by up to 5%.

It is important to add an antifreeze or similar to the AdBlue tank. If the wrong liquid has been filled into the AdBlue tank, do not start the engine or the vehicle again, but inform the workshop immediately, as it can have similar consequences as a fuel misfuelling.

Even though the AdBlue technology stands for a significantly reduced emission of pollutants, there are two small disadvantages. Firstly, the AdBlue must be topped up regularly. Regularly in this case means after a distance of about 20,000 kilometers driven. Here the number varies depending on the driving style. However, AdBlue can now be refilled easily at many service stations, and the tanks are designed anyway so that the tank must first be refilled during inspection by the manufacturer. Another disadvantage is that AdBlue technology can sometimes only be used in vehicles that run on diesel.

Services

In the initial development phases of your concept, we use FEM calculations to test it for structural strength, fatigue strength and material efficiency, among other things. These calculations will provide you with a solid basis for the test phases as well as for the commissioning of your product by your customer. In addition, we digitally present the effects of different mechanical, thermal and electrical impacts. For this purpose, we use linear and non-linear structural-mechanical calculations. The advantage of this is that we can visualize the consequences of various influences on the entire product or component with varying degrees of complexity even before the first prototypes are built.

You can use the results as evidence for technical approvals, for product liability and production releases.

The FEM calculations are performed analytically according to general and international standards, so that comparability and reliability of the results are given. We perform the following analyses and calculations for your components:

  • Linear and non-linear structural mechanics calculations
  • Analysis of deformations, stiffnesses and stability
  • Consideration of natural vibrations
  • Transient structural analysis
  • Collision analysis
  • Temperature field calculation (thermal-stationary or thermal-transient)
  • CAE-supported fatigue analysis with nCode

We will be happy to produce individual part drawings, assembly drawings, general drawings or assembly drawings for you in 2D (in dxf, dwg and pdf formats) and in 3D (in step format). In addition, you will receive detailed technical documentation for your review. This allows you to make changes before the start of production. This way you can be sure that everything is designed and works according to your wishes.

This detailed design creation gives you the certainty that everything will fit perfectly and be implemented without errors. With these engineering drawings and comprehensive documentation, communication runs precisely and smoothly throughout your entire design and manufacturing process chain. The need for information of the individual parts of the process chain is optimally covered.

We work closely with you in developing, planning and laying out the design, materials and manufacturing process to get as close as possible to the desired result of the series, even in the prototype phase. This close collaboration and communication ensures the best possible results, as well as meeting your deadlines and budget.

The results of the FAI are analyzed together with the customer and cross-checked against the previous manufacturing status. If necessary, the manufacturing process can then be additionally supplemented. This ensures smooth series production downstream.

As a system supplier, we cover all tier levels, so that we can handle all processes for you, from demand planning to logistical processing. Furthermore, our consignment warehouse with a storage area of approx. 1,200 m² is at your disposal. This warehouse ensures your uninterrupted production and you also save the costs of your own storage space. Due to larger lot sizes, a more favorable production is another advantage that arises here.

We thus ensure an optimal component supply for series production. You get your NovaNox® AdBlue tanks delivered on time or flexibly. In addition, we fully integrate your logistics processes. All this guarantees a reliable supply of components throughout the year.
