Aluminum combi tanks for machinery, equipment and vehicle technology

Aluminum combi tanks usually consist of two chambers. The chambers are used to separate different fuels or liquids. For example, combi tanks are used for the removal and storage of diesel and hydraulic oil in machines, plants and vehicle technology (vehicles). This combination in one tank unit is particularly suitable for tight spaces.

In addition to the legal requirements, aluminum combination tanks have to meet a large number of other requirements. Constant mechanical stresses, vibrations and temperature fluctuations present aluminum combi tanks with particular challenges in daily use. Added to this are the demands placed on strength by complicated designs for maximum filling volume.

We only produce individual solutions for orders of at least 50 pieces

Lightweight aluminum combi tanks from NovaNox®.

In contrast to the usual aluminum combi tanks, lightweight NovaNox® combi tanks are made of high-quality thin aluminum sheet. This feature ensures considerable weight savings, especially in automotive and aerospace applications. Weight reduction means less fuel consumption and consequently lower operating costs.

Regardless of the lightweight construction, our aluminum combi tanks made of thin sheet have high strength. This quality feature is ensured by our own welding process planning.

Manufacturing process

Manual welding
As a welding company, we work with qualified personnel and draw on our many years of experience in welding technology. We work with the automated welding process and also manufacture hand-welded aluminum combination tanks. The manual welding process is recommended as a cost-effective, time-saving choice for one-off productions as well as small and medium-sized series. Hand-welded aluminum combination tanks are produced on current welding tables.  Our own fixture construction ensures dimensional accuracy. Repeatability can also be permanently met even with high tolerances.

Automated welding
The automated welding process is implemented by our state-of-the-art welding robots. Automated production is very fast and efficient. This pays off especially for high requirements that are to be produced cost-effectively with consistent quality at all times. The automated welding process offers the highest possible precision. This means that even very complex aluminum combi tanks with high tolerance requirements can be welded.

Corrosion protection and finishes for aluminum combi tanks

Surface treatments perfect durability, safety and appearance. A long-term corrosion-free, protected and stable surface promotes the durability of aluminum combination tanks. Surface finishes also give aluminum combination tanks a more pleasing appearance. With our own powder coating and painting facility, surfaces in all RAL colors can be finished quickly and to a high standard. For effective corrosion protection, we apply heat-resistant paints, powder coatings as well as pickling and passivation.

Services

We examine the structural strength, fatigue strength and material efficiency of your design, among other things, already in the initial development phases with the help of FEM calculations. This gives you peace of mind during the test phases and also after your product has been put into operation by your customers. In doing so, we digitally illustrate the consequences of different mechanical, thermal and electrical impacts through linear and non-linear structural-mechanical modeling. This allows us to estimate the effects of the various loads on the entire product or component for any more or less complex geometry before we build prototypes.

The results of these considerations are also available as evidence for technical approvals, for product liability and production releases.

NovaNox® performs FEM calculations analytically based on general and international standards. This ensures comparability and reliable results. In detail we do for you

  • linear and non-linear structural mechanics calculations
  • Analysis of deformations, stiffnesses and stability
  • Consideration of natural vibrations
  • Transient structural analysis
  • Collision analyses
  • Temperature field calculation (thermal-stationary or thermal-transient)
  • CAE-supported fatigue analysis with nCode

You will receive technical drawings from us in 2D (in dxf, dwg and pdf formats) and in 3D (in step format). Depending on your needs, you will receive from us single part drawings, assembly drawings, general drawings or assembly drawings. In addition, you will receive detailed technical documentation for revision. This gives you the chance to adjust or add details before production. Then, when the production line starts rolling, you can be sure that everything will fit perfectly and be implemented without errors.

With our comprehensive technical drawings and detailed documentation, you achieve precise communication and greater efficiency throughout your entire development and manufacturing process chain. Each process stage receives the information it needs.

In order to produce a product that is as close to real life as possible, even at the prototype stage, we work seamlessly with you on the development, planning and design of the construction, the material and the manufacturing process. This ensures the best possible results and adherence to your schedule and budget.

Finally, we analyze the results of the FAI and fine-tune the manufacturing process for maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness. In doing so, we help to noticeably reduce implementation times and successfully go into series production as planned. This preserves your project budget and provides additional security.

We take the entire process of component supply off your shoulders. We take care of all processes for you, from requirements planning to logistics. This includes our consignment warehouse to ensure your uninterrupted production processes with a total of 1,200 square meters of storage space. You save costs compared to your own storage capacities. And you can produce in larger batches more cost-effectively.

Your best possible component supply for series production is thus assured. We deliver your aluminum combi tanks from the consignment warehouse on time and according to your requirements. Your existing logistics processes are integrally taken into account. Thus you create the most convenient solution for a secure component supply with aluminum combi tanks from NovaNox® for the whole year.

Quality management

Welding process planning is the foundation on which the most appropriate welding process is selected for the specific requirements of your aluminum combi tanks. Using the best process will improve the safety and stability of your aluminum combi tanks.

Welding process planning also identifies and determines the welding sequence. The optimal sequence of welding processes not only ensures more efficient production processes. It also ensures the longer service life and reliable tightness of your aluminum combi tanks.

With unique type identification, every aluminum combi tank can be easily traced back to its source. The complete path from production to the last use is verifiable in detail over the entire product life. Proof for your increased safety.

Depending on the material and stress of your aluminum combi tanks, different types of type markings are suitable:

  • Laser engraving
  • Welded metal plates with laser engraving
  • Self-adhesive metal plates with laser engraving
  • Self-adhesive plastic labels with specific imprint and silicone coating for external protection

So that you can trace your aluminum combi tanks at any time, we provide them with a personal identification consisting of symbols, numbers or letters. This is how easy it is to integrate your unique route and process reconstruction!

The leak test serves your safety. This quality management process gives you the certainty that your aluminum combi tanks will remain leak-proof even during continuous operation and under extreme conditions. As an accompanying support for your safety, we will gladly provide you with the leak test as a written declaration of conformity for each delivery. This NovaNox® test certificate is quickly and easily integrated into your overall documentation. We carry out these leak tests for you:

  • 100% test with air under water in our own test basin (e.g. according to ECE R34 or 70//21/EEC regulation)
  • Pressure test
  • Leak test by means of red or fluorescent dyes
  • Ultrasonic testing

Precise documentation of production processes ensures quality in production. This quality assurance guarantees the high quality of your products.  Complete documentation also offers great cost-cutting potential - especially for large projects. This is because errors and quality deviations can be detected and eliminated at an early stage.

With meticulously documented, reproducible processes, you gain more time reserves and personnel resources. We offer you this comprehensive documentation for quality management:

  • Initial sample inspection report according to VDA 2, EN 9102
  • Factory certificates 3.1 and 2.2 according to EN 10204
  • Dimensional report by 3D measuring technique (Faro measuring arm)
  • Declaration of conformity for pressure tests

All our documentation will quickly and easily find its place in your overall documentation.
